Last updated: 15 May 2026
Waypoint Africa (“Waypoint”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect when you use our website and products, why we collect it, and how we look after it. It is intended to align with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA) in South Africa.
1. Who we are
Waypoint is a hospitality intelligence platform built for African properties. If you have questions about this policy or how your data is handled, email us at hello@waypointafrica.com.
2. Information we collect
- Account & contact details — name, email address, property name, and website URL you provide when requesting access or signing in.
- Property & performance data — booking, occupancy, rate, channel, and marketing metrics that you or your connected systems (e.g. NightsBridge, SiteMinder) share with Waypoint to power your dashboards.
- Usage data — pages visited, features used, and basic device information, used to keep the product working reliably.
- Communications — messages you send us by email or through forms on this site.
3. How we use your information
- To provide, maintain, and improve the Waypoint products.
- To respond to enquiries, onboard you, and send service-related messages about your account.
- To produce aggregated, anonymised benchmarks that help African hospitality businesses understand industry performance.
- To comply with legal and regulatory obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not send marketing messages you didn’t ask for.
4. How we share information
We share information only with service providers who help us run Waypoint (for example, hosting, email delivery, and analytics providers). These providers are bound to handle your information securely and only on our instructions. We may also disclose information where required by law.
5. How we store and protect information
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect your information against loss, misuse, or unauthorised access. Information may be stored on servers operated by our cloud providers. We keep personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this policy.
6. Your rights
Under POPIA you may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and object to certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@waypointafrica.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa.
7. Cookies and analytics
We use a small number of cookies and analytics tools to understand how the site is used and to keep it running smoothly. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes will be communicated to active users by email.
